Senator Melissa Hurtado and Senator Anna Caballero Hosts a Joint Community Swearing-In Ceremony

FRESNO, CA –Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) and Senator Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) hosted a joint Community Swearing-In Ceremony at Carpenter Local 701 in Fresno, California on Friday, January 25. Newly elected to represent the 14th Senate district in California, Senator Hurtado welcomed more than 200 community members and local representatives to the event.

“I am deeply honored for the opportunity to represent the communities of the 14th Senate district,” said Senator Hurtado. “When we started this journey together, the mission was simple – serve the people of the Valley. Standing with the community today, I know that there is much work to do as we continue through the 2019 – 2020 legislative year,” continued Senator Hurtado.

Welcoming Senator Hurtado and Senator Anna Caballero, Sanger High School NJROTC led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Justice Rosendo Peña administering the joint Community Swearing-In Ceremony.

“I was born and raised in the Central Valley and experienced, firsthand, what it takes to achieve the American dream,” stated Senator Hurtado. “As a daughter of the Valley, our communities have long felt underrepresented – blurring the pathway to upward mobility and making it more difficult to rise above poverty. However, this opportunity has given me, along with many others, hope that our voices will be well-represented in Sacramento.” said Senator Hurtado.
