Senator Melissa Hurtado Issues Statement on Governor Gavin Newsom’s Proposed State Budget
SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) today issued the following statement on Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposed state budget for fiscal year 2019-2020:
Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposed state budget is evidence of California’s commitment to continue fostering an economy that creates opportunities for upward mobility. As chair for the Human Services Committee, I am thrilled to hear the Governor highlight issues that I wholeheartedly believe are vital for communities in the Central Valley and throughout California.
The Governor’s investments in childhood education, health care and workforce development gives me great assurance that we can all work together towards greater access to health care, better educational opportunities and more quality jobs. I look forward to representing the Central Valley while serving on the budget committee and working with my colleagues on these issues during this legislative session.
