A Valley Senator is introducing a bill designed to help prevent teen suicides.

Senator Melissa Hurtado a Democrat from Sanger along with other lawmakers introduced SB 331.

If passed, the legislation would require all California counties to develop a suicide prevention plan.

According to Senator Hurtado's office, youth suicide is on the rise.




Gov. Gavin Newsom signs his first bill as governor on Wednesday, to provide immediate water supplies to parts of the Central Valley.

The Governor was joined by Democratic Senator Melissa Hurtado from District 14, at a press event at Riverview Elementary school in Parlier to sign SB 72, a bill providing safe access to water.




A day after promising to unlock the Central Valley's potential, Gov. Gavin Newsom made a surprise visit to rural California. 




Governor Gavin Newsom traveled to the Central Valley on Wednesday to sign the Emergency Drinking Water and Fire Recovery Bills.




Gov. Gavin Newsom signed his first bill, which will provide $131.3 million in immediate relief from the state’s general fund for emergencies such as a lack of clean drinking water, while surrounded by children at a Parlier elementary school – all of whom must drink from water bottles due to unsafe drinking fountains.




Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) introduced legislation on Feb. 12 to help Californians keep health coverage during life transitions.
