BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — After President Biden announced sanctions on Russian energy imports including oil Tuesday, gas prices have hit all-time highs across the nation, particularly in California and Central Valley lawmakers are calling for something to be done.




A California state senator and the nonprofit group Consumer Watchdog are pushing for the California Medical Board to include on physicians' profiles any pending investigations into cases where a patient died or was seriously harmed, ABC affiliate 




SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A California state senator says that there's reason for concern after watching ABC 10News' Team 10 investigation into why a local plastic surgeon and his nurse, who are charged with involuntary manslaughter, can keep practicing medicine without notifying patients.




Now that three lawmakers, including State Senator Melissa Hurtado, have introduced bills to increase the Medical Board of California’s accountability to patients, and the medical board itself appealed to legislators to expand its disciplinary power, the agency will soon be the subject of oversight hearings in the State Senate.




Democratic State Senator Melissa Hurtado of Sanger introduced legislation on Thursday calling for the dissolution of the State Water Resources Control Board.




Senator Melissa Hurtado received a State Legislator of the Year award during a Friday ceremony hosted by the Fresno County Fire Protection District.

The award was presented to the Central Valley lawmaker by the California Special Districts Association (CSDA).




On Monday, the State Department of Water Resources allocated $39.2 million to the repairs of the Friant-Kern Canal.
